Arrests of Georgian Spies, Dens of Russian Spies?

Dirt about the oil survey labs! Arrests of Georgian Spies, Dens of Russian Spies?

Few Details Emerge over Reported Arrest of 20 "Alleged" Spies

http://www.civil.ge/eng/article.php?id=22805

With the officials sources remaining tight-lipped over reported arrest of 20 persons suspected of spying for Russia, few details started to emerged in the Georgian media sources.

http://www.civil.ge/eng/article.php?id=22805

Subject: Lots of details but where to start?

Some funny news from Caleb Brett briefly:

1 - narcocontrol was carried out in Batumi Office this week (from several years ago)
                                                                         ! - by administration initiative;
                                                                         ! - with the preliminary announcement;
! - under strong  (no,....not a doctor, not a nurse, but Bagirov and Nugzar Bakuridze's private bodyguard) private control for  the urine sampling procedure and with the additional security this day. Obligatory control for the old staff !

Not obligatory for the new employees.

2 - one more new worker was appointed for the (unknown) position - Nugzar Bakuridze wife's grandfather.

Why?

The independent consulting firm of Netherland, Sewell & Associates has assigned 118 million barrels of P3 reserves from Zones 9, 14, 15 and 19 within the field. Additionally, Netherland, Sewell & Associates has assigned as much as 36 million barrels of unrisked resource potential associated with five deeper horizons in the field.

These reserves are next to nothing in the scheme of things. There's oil in most places if you drill deep enough. There are lots and lots of small oil companies with drilling rights in various small fields around the world. I have a small number of shares in a couple of such companies - though they could go bust just as easily as make me a fortune.

Did I ever send you this (particularly illuminating) link all about Peak Oil and how it shapes (and has shaped) the world we live in?

http://www.lifeaftertheoilcrash.net/

"We now consume close to 30 billion barrels per year but find less than 4 billion per year."

Georgia's oil reserves are likely to prove pitiful at best, and only useful for making a few people a fast buck by hyping it up. Quite often the share prices of these small outfits get way too inflated due to small investors chitter chattering in their work places around the world, and lots of people get sucked into marching into their local stockbroker's office to part with their hard earned money. They'd be better off putting it on a horse.

You will find a bit more informed opinion about Frontera's chances of actually sucking oil up here...

Getting-rid-of-local-staff to set up spy cell, illegal exports of oil (September 2007)

Dear Nixon Center,

Former Intertek Caleb Brett (UK) Georgia Branch, are appealing to you with this letter, and the reason for appealing for your assistance is job related. Let us explain to you that the Intertek Caleb Brett – is a survey company, which inspects quality and quantity of transit oil and oil products via Georgian territory and via Black sea .

We have already contacted local officials concerning our problem – with the incorrect process of dismissal (breaking Georgian Labor Code and our working contracts' point that include monetary compensation and the advance notice of dismissal).

Moreover we would like to bring to discussions damage inflicted upon our professional reputation. Alas, the Local Code of ethnics does not include these clauses, i.e. moral compensation for professional reputation damage.  But on another hand, we worked for the international company and were ruled by international law!

Thus, we are appealing to you in order to find our if it is possible for Georgian citizens to claim on international level - for violation of their human rights and professional reputation.

Can you help us find a good attorney who can help us on a percentage?

We will explain our situation in a future correspondence, with all details. We want to take our case to US Federal Court for Washington DC for substantial personal and professional damages.

Dear all,

Thank you for your e-mail today.  I hope you understand that the decision to restructure the Georgian Company was taken for commercial reasons only.  It is always unfortunate when this happens as we realise the impact this has on individuals.  The financial performance of the operation in Georgia has been poor for some time and we felt that urgent action was required to safeguard the jobs of the people that remain in the operation.

However, let me assure you that the positions of the  staff remaining are secure and that we do not foresee any future redundancies  based our predictions of costs and sales in the operation.

I would also like to stress that we will ensure that there is no discrimination of individuals based on race, colour or creed and that all individuals will be treated equally on all aspects of performance.  The staff from Azerbaijan have been asked to temporarily assist during this difficult time and to help you cope with any issues that may arise.  This is a temporary measure as they are required back in their own territory.

With respect to your points on compliance related issues, we will not tolerate any instances of falsification of results or indeed any issues which bring our company into disrepute.  If you wish to bring any evidence of such issues of this nature to my attention I shall ensue that a full audit takes place.

Lastly, I understand that actions such as these are unsettling for all staff but rest assured that we shall do all in our power to protect those that remain and to ensure that the business is healthy and viable for the future.  I know Iain will also ensure that all of this occurs  without prejudice to any individual.

best
regards

Raymond Pirie

Subject: FW: URGENT Vova,

I am disappointed that you and a number of your colleges in Georgia feel that you have to resort to sending such messages as this to our senior management. It shows a lack of trust in me as your Regional Manager and a lack of understanding of the fact that such actions are discussed and agreed at VP level with Raymond Pirie and others before they are actioned.

With regards to the comments in the Message, The decision was taken by me and the Regional Senior Management team in the UK and advised to Baku, therefore all of the comments and accusations made about nationality are not really relevant as we are British! Any decisions
about further changes in Georgia, which at present are not even being considered, will have to be approved by me.

I am well aware that the operations in Georgia are good and that they have received praise from various clients, as you are well aware I was present during the recent TCO audit. The Georgian operation is an important part of the "full route" business from Kazakhstan, through Azerbaijan to the Black Sea coast and will continue to operate and hopefully grow. Therefore there will be the need for good people like yourselves, so I therefore hope that you will not make any decisions to
leave, however if you feel that you must then I cannot stop you. It will only mean that the company will have to find replacements because the operations will have to continue.

The changes that have been made are to refocus the operation and to adjust the costs so that the operations can be profitable. The comments in the message are based on miss-guided information and are in accurate as you are not aware of the cost base differential that has accompanied the changes that have been made.

Also Elchin Bagirov's appointment is temporary until a suitable permanent replacement can be identified and/or trained. If this ultimate replacement manager is Georgian, then so much the better. In closing I ask that you continue to perform your jobs as well as you have in the past and work with the new management to ensure that we all have a successful future.

Please feel free to show this message to any of your colleagues as you feel necessary and if anyone wants to discuss further then please contact me.

Best Regards

Iain Clark
